It is constructed out of 3/4" metal conduit (EMT). We considered the simpler 3-frequency design, but the optimal size of this frequency (24 feet) did not entirely meet our needs now and looking forward. Fortunately, the bright people over at the Recharge Dome had already done the math for us, determining pipe lengths, hole distances, and the entrance modification.
The design calls for 262 processed pieces of conduit at 6 unique pipe lengths. There are 91 vertices. To easily identify the strut lengths and for aesthetic appeal we have color coded our struts to the same colors the desertdomes.com folks used to render the 4-frequency build diagram.

Domus Noctem is erected in a top-down fashion using a Genie SLC-18 or Sumner 2118 materials hoist to lift the 600 pound structure 18 feet into the air as it is being built. The dome is the home of our sound system and intelligent lights and showcases camp and selected community musicians as well as art made by Carpe Noctem artists.

Interested in how Domus Noctem came to be? Or maybe you're curious how it's assembled.

Carpe goes hard in the paint at Flipside 2011: A Bad Idea. We make lots of new friends, dispense a unhealthy amount of potent liquor and whompage, and manage to survive to do it all again another day.
Loads of new mixes if you haven’t dropped by the podcast section recently, including some very worthwhile joints by Tonebreaker and Trey Turner. Hit the jump for direct links or head over to the podcast section and browse around.
