In late February, Carpe Noctem launched a new era of cybernetic advancement founded in the historic main hall of the Pink Palace, Austin, Texas. The project has since shut down in response to unwanted attention from various government agencies. Thankfully, audio logs were taken, and these two hours represent Eazy Tom’s contribution to science that evening.

DRRTYWULVZ is a sometime solo, sometimes collaborative effort spearheaded by studio engineer and beat producer Levi Witt based out of Austin, TX. Levi is new to the podcast and Carpe Noctem, but not new to mixing or production as his considerable skill and wide but refined taste shine through in this two hour live performance recorded straight off the submixer from Thursday night of Flipside 2011. As this recording is entirely live, please forgive the occasional brief dropout. You’ll find five to six gems in this mix that are original productions and will be officially presented on the forthcoming DRRTYWULVZ album.

One night a group of cyborgs took over the Pink Palace and turned it into a cabaret. Their demands were to dance and be entertained, otherwise they would enslave the human race. Joseph Noctum arrived armed with two hours of calculated crunk and made them dance as if he was their positronic programmer. In the end, they danced until he trounced their blinking monocles right onto the dancefloor. This mix is offered in testament to his heroic actions that night, for he may have saved humanity that day… for the time being.

This mix represents the freshmen effort of Joe Noctum and Tonebreaker under the guise of Libations & Oscillations. It wanders along at 70ish BPM while exploring the melodic yet gritty side of Glitch-Hop and Bass Music. It was originally performed at the Ambient Camp Out 35 as well as at the Moonmagnet Re-Union Party in Deep Ellum, Dallas. We hope you enjoy as much as we did constructing it.

This set was created as an experiment in rocking various vibes through the gradual acceleration of tempo over the course of the set. The BPMs start around 90 and increase to 120 over the course of an hour; the goal being to do so with no clearly audible jumps. Various hip hop and glitch hop styles in play on this one; I hope you enjoy it. The next mix from me won’t be until Flipside at the end of May :D
